A Letter from the Becoming

Dear Jeremy,

I’m writing to you from many years ahead, with a quieter mind and a fuller heart. Life feels simpler now, as if I’ve finally distilled it down to what truly matters. Looking back, I remember this chapter in your life vividly: the intensity, the searching, the beauty you were building day by day. You were in the thick of becoming, even when it didn’t feel like it.

You are 34 right now. I remember how much you were creating: your paintings, your objects, your visions. I also remember how much you were holding: tension in your body, questions in your heart, and a quiet, persistent longing for deeper connection. You were pushing toward something meaningful, even while feeling a little lost in the process.

I remember her. The woman who lit something up in you. The way you opened yourself to the possibility. And I remember the sting when the spark dimmed too soon. The quiet ache that followed. You wondered if you had misread it, or if love for you would always arrive like a wave and leave like a tide.

You didn’t do anything wrong. That heartbreak cracked something open in you. It meant you were alive, ready, loving. And yes, in time, everything worked out. Not because you forced it, but because you stayed open. You followed your heart and didn’t let it harden. You kept walking. And love did come. Deep, steady, true. The kind that sees all of you.

Let the right people see you. And tell them what you actually feel, even if your voice shakes or your cool slips. That bravery will echo for decades. That’s what builds intimacy that endures.

And keep creating the work only you can make: the incense set, the paintings, the objects, your visions of the future. They matter more than you know. Let them be messy, strange, and alive. Let them reflect the parts of you words can’t yet reach.

And record it all. Write down what you’re afraid to admit. It doesn’t have to be polished. Your future self is grateful for the breadcrumbs.

Hold your family close. Your parents and your brother are constants in a world that changes fast. Cherish every moment with them. Call just to say you love them. Be as real and authentic as you can. Let them see your heart. Time will keep moving, and you’ll never regret having loved them fully.

You are in the middle of a becoming. Don’t rush it. Just stay close to what’s real.

Love,
Jeremy
